Polar Express

Whew!  It's been a busy month since I last posted!  Lots of household projects, nesting frenzy, holiday preparations and Christmas festivities!  I'll split the update into at least two, and start with our Polar Express adventure.

For the second year we drove up to Palestine, TX to ride the railroad's Polar Express train.  This year, Nonnie and Papa drove down from Dallas to meet us and our friends the Barr family for the ride.
Riding the 5:15 train works perfectly, because it's light outside when we arrive at the station and wait for the train, but dark by the time the train pulls into the "North Pole."

We had a few minutes to look around before it was time to board.

Once on board, we found cookies waiting on the tables!

They played the Polar Express story over the speakers and served us hot chocolate as we chugged up to the North Pole.

Our friends the Barrs.

Cuddling with Nonnie and Papa.

We arrived!  At the North Pole, Santa boarded the train.

He gave each child a jingle bell,

and we sang Christmas Carols with the bells on the train ride back to the station.

What a fun start to the Christmas season!
