LOVING this Mommy Job!

It's a gorgeous October day... sunny, cool, and a bit windy, and we've had a wonderful morning together. Every day it hits me again how grateful I am to be home with kids for this season, and to be working part-time when I do return. 22 hours a week compared to the residency 60-80 schedule will be soooo nice.

Our day starts at 6:30 when Jonathan wakes up, because "the bunny woke up!" The bunny is in charge of the schedule at our home, and thank goodness I'm in charge of the bunny. It's a toddler-style 'clock' with two pictures that light up on cue: an awake bunny walking with a backpack, and a bunny sleeping in bed. I set the hours for bunny to go to bed and wake up, and Jonathan knows he has to stay in bed until bunny wakes up. And he takes the bunny relatively seriously! I've tried having bunny sleep til 7, but Jonathan just can't stay asleep that long and fusses in his bed calling for Mommy.

After bunny and Jonathan woke up, Abby had had her milk and was back to sleep, so Jonathan and I had breakfast at the table set with a collection of pumpkins and fall decorations. Over oatmeal and mellon we talked about pumpkins, and things that are orange, and words that start with "P like pumpkin." We colored pictures of pumpkins and the letter P, then got ready to go. While I packed the diaper bags, Jonathan watched some video clips online about pumpkins. This one is his favorite. He always points out the guy playing piano... which fit into the P theme for the day.

The beautiful morning made for a lovely time at the park for our stroller exercise class. Abby and Jonathan do pretty well in our sit-and-stand style stroller. Abby just needs me to keep the stroller moving to stay happy, and Jonathan gets in and out when we stop for abs or lunges and plays with his trucks in the grass or the dirt. We were especially lucky to have a huge, loud train drive past the park during class :) Afterwards we had a picnic snack of pears and crackers on a blanket, then played on the playground. Abby even enjoyed hanging out on the blanket in the shade a while.

On the way home, we stopped by a local church that hosts a Pumpkin Patch. Jonathan enjoyed looking at all the pumpkins and managed to load quite a few into a wagon.

Now the kids are napping together long enough for me to get cleaned up, pick up the kitchen, and take a few minutes to write. Amazing!

Happy baby
