Baby Dino's Hatch Day Book

As we prepare for Joshua's arrival, I've been talking with the kids about how each of them used to be in Mommy's tummy, was born, and came home as a baby.  This afternoon we read Abby and Jonathan's baby stories.

Afterwards, Jonathan wanted to make a book for his Dino about the day he hatched.  We got out crayons and paper, and while I put Abby down for her nap, Jonathan made a cover page.  It shows Dino as a "big kid" as he is now, and says "Dino" on the front.  Actually, it says "Dinow."  I was impressed with the details in the drawing, using corresponding colors for each of the colors of Dino's fabric, 3-toed feet and 2-toed arms.

I agreed to write out the words for the remaining pages, and Jonathan drew out Dino's egg along side Jonathan, Mommy, and Daddy at the hospital.  On the next page Dino's egg begins to hatch.  Then his head pops out, followed by his legs and his arms.  On the last page "all of him popped out" and he slept comfortably in his nest.  After we put the book together, Jonathan was eager to read it with Dino, which he did a few times.

We then made a "bouncer" for Dino, much like the baby bouncer that Jonathan had enjoyed as a baby.  Jonathan was very disappointed to learn that his own bouncer was no long here (it was a loan from a friend), but some blankets in a bowl made for a pretty cozy bouncer, too.
