We celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary over an amazingly beautiful sunny weekend at the Inn Above Onion Creek, to date our all time favorite bed and breakfast. We've visited once [second half of
this post] just before Abby was born, and have recommended it to numerous friends and family since. We were very excited to return, and were grateful to my parents for spending the weekend with our children to give us a few days on our own.

When you arrive you first see the gardens, where many of the ingredients for their meals are grown, as well as fresh flowers for the rooms.

Nigel is quite the friendly country cat. He actually accompanied us on a walk around the periphery of the property and stuck by our side til we returned.

Leigh is a sweet-heart of a friendly three-legged dog who greets you at the Inn's door.

Our room was lovely.

We enjoyed our morning breakfast in the dining room, and wonderful dinners in the evening.
I love all the details that go into their decor, and the fresh flowers from the garden.
The food is just wonderful -- breakfast AND dinner!
One of our favorite parts of staying here is sitting out on the porch reading in the evenings.

On Saturday, we went out to visit some of the area wineries. The day was just perfect, and we really enjoyed the drive around the hill country, and the nice wines.

That evening, David surprised me with a private meal served in the library, with beautiful flowers.

Sunday morning we visited a small Presbyterian church in Wimberly, Texas. We've come to just love visiting churches when we travel, to see and the enjoy the way other church families worship. After church, we returned to the Leaning Pear, a lovely cafe where we ate on our last visit, 18 months ago.

I took this picture to appreciate being a good 35 pounds lighter than I was when I took this similar picture:

This time, I fully enjoyed the pear salad, complete with the goat cheese :)
As lovely as the Inn and hill country are, the best part was simply pleasantly long days and evenings together.
