Happy Birthday, Baby Monkey!

It was announced this week that Baby Monkey is no longer in fact a baby. He recently turned one year old, although the exact date of his birthday is difficult to pin down.

[Actually... it's impossible to be certain how old this monkey is, as Baby Monkey has been around in some form by a variety of names for 3 1/2 years and has involved the purchase of numerous back-up and replacement monkeys].

Much like Jonathan's sister, who coincidentally also turned one recently, Baby Monkey is still often referred to as a baby and does still sleep in a crib (for his naps, at least). It is imperative that the whole family be quiet when Baby Monkey is taking a nap. Unless, of course, Jonathan finds something immensely exciting, in which case Baby Monkey fortuitously and instantaneously falls into quite a sound sleep, allowing Jonathan to celebrate the exciting moment at hand without reservation.

It's unclear whether Baby Monkey's evolution into a Big Boy Monkey is reflective of Jonathan's increasing willingness to do things on his own as a big boy or of his sister's increasing independence as a toddler, but I figure it can only be a good sign either way.

Happy Birthday, Baby Monkey!
