For Easter weekend, we went camping! We came home Saturday evening in order to make it to church Sunday. I'll post a few pics from Sunday a bit later.
On arriving to camp Friday we were all excited to break out the camping gear and get set-up.
Abby was crazy about the little folding chairs and took both hers and Jonathan's over to the camp fire area immediately.
Jonathan got to work digging with the shovel. I'm just not sure what work he was doing.
It was funny how much Abby's activities reminded me of our first camping trip with Jonathan, when he was just a few months over a year. Like her brother, our little toddler spent a good portion of the trip playing with the water and muddied up her clothes almost immediately upon arrival.
Abby's expression when David shows it to her cracks me up! She definitely has a bit of a dramatic side!
Just like at home, meals made up a good portion of the day. Snacks, lunch time... not long before it was dinner!
Jonathan, ready for lunch.
Nothing says "fun" like bouncing around an empty tent. Abby was having more fun than it looks like from this pic!
David made a wonderful dinner of fried fish and creamed corn -- yum!
We did get some sleep. Abby fell asleep about 3 hours later than her usual bedtime, but eventually we did all get to sleep. The light was just beautiful in the morning.
The light coming through the trees on the dew and grass just sang "Easter" to me.
We went on a little hike after breakfast. Abby got to ride with Daddy,
and Jonathan took his excavator and a bug net, "just in case there's bugs or good dirt for digging." He even got to stop a few times to do some digging when we found good dirt. The bug selection was largely rolly pollies, which was perfectly fine by him. The abundance of rolly pollies meant there was minimal grief over any single lost bug, another blessing. Later in the morning he and Daddy went back out on a digging expedition and made a great construction site.
Bubbles were a huge hit with Abby. We spent LOTS of time playing with bubbles!
Quick family photo Saturday afternoon before breaking camp. We had a wonderful time, and with the swarms of mosquitos and warm weather, I think a quick 2-day, 1-night trip was just perfect for us!
