Welcoming Cousin Logan Eisma

Congrats to Kimberly and Joe on the arrival of their son, Logan, yesterday afternoon! Jonathan can't wait to meet his cousin (2nd cousin? 2nd cousin once removed? something like that). Below, my Dad's announcement for Logan, following on the tails of his Baby Olympics story for Jonathan:

Baby Logan Captures Eisma Party's Nomination For Presidency !

Dallas, Texas AP News August 31, 2008

Baby Logan Eisma made a surprisingly early appearance, and accepted the Eisma party's nomination for the Presidency on Sunday.
He had not been expected to make an appearance in Dallas prior to October. Apparently deciding to seize the political opportunity in the short gap between the Democratic and Republican Conventions, Logan appeared suddenly on Sunday. He promplty captured the Eisma party's nomination, becoming the youngest ever candidate, not only for the presidency, but for any public office in the history of the world! Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama soon called to congratulate Baby Logan for his unprecedented unanimous victory in his primary. The Godfather of American Politics, Richard McKinney, was said to have orchestrated behind the scenes manuevers to assure that adorable photos of Logan's appearance were immediately published world wide via e-mail.

Logan's appearance Sunday was preceded by a long introduction by his mother, Kimberly McKinney Eisma. She labored for more than 15 hours on the introduction, with assistance from baby Logan's father, Joe Eisma. By some reports, having started moves early Sunday morning to make an appearance, Logan was apparently too humble to travel the last few centimeters to appear on the public stage. According to father Joe Eisma, Kimberly had to literally push him out, a task that took several gruling hours. Both Kimberly and Joe are said to be happy, but exhausted.

The response by the American public to Logan's nomination was truly astonishing and overwhelming. In the North, the historic City of Boston renamed its airport after him. It will now be called "The Logan International Aiport." Cities in Ohio and Utah were named in his honor. Hollywood announced a major motion picture about his run for the presidency and his campaign's heavy dependence on young voters. Early rumors are that the movie will feature veteran actor Michael York in the role of Logan. The movie may be called "Logan's Presidential Run", or simply shortened to "Logan's Run." Farrah Faucet-Majors has already secured the coveted role of playing Grandmother Sharon McKinney, who played a major role in the Logan's appearance.

Mother Nature itself seemed to take note of this historic occasion. Upon Logan's nomination, a major storm, Hurrican Gustav, departed from Cuba on Sunday and immediately made a bee-line for Dallas, Texas, the site of the historic nomination. Unfortunately, the City of New Orleans lies in the hurricane's path. Undetered, the citizens of New Orleans staged their own spontaneous parade on Sunday. It was the largest parade ever held in the history of the United States. The parade was accomplished by the thousands of citizens of New Orleans all simultaneously driving their cars North on all major highways leaving New Orleans.

Baby Logan has not yet announced his running mate. Political insiders speculate that Logan is eyeing a recent Olympic athlete, who secured a gold medal in the Baby Olympics. While some are concerned about their lack of political experience, it is likely that the two will make an unbeatable combination.
